Truly ~ A Vegan Restaurant -- CLOSED ):
My boyfriend visited for his birthday/fall break last semester and as we explored the Hollywood area (Walk of Fame, Dolby Theater, all that touristy stuff), I was hungry. We googled vegan restaurants in the area and found this little random one called Truly Vegan. Soo why not. It's a really hole-in-the-wall place and we were the only people there, but it was still a nice atmosphere and our server was sweet.

The google street view |
I was pretty happy with this one, especially with the appetizers. The menu has a little bit of everything on it but Ian and I got the edamame (personal favorite food) and the dumplings (any time there are vegan dumplings anywhere - get them. vegan dumpling wrappers are hard to find near USC).

mmmmmmmmmmm |
The edamame was good, but the dumplings were AMAZING. I've never had dumplings with anything but soy sauce and these were in a curry-like sauce and it was SO GOOD. I would've ordered 3 more if I hadn't ordered an entree. I also got a vegan thai iced tea which was good too!

Lentil burger |
And here's me with my entree, a lentil burger. I got it because our server (you can see her in the background actually..) suggested it over one of the curries. And, I get curry everywhere so I told myself I should try something new. As you can see from this picture, it was super hard to eat (also I don't like tomatoes). Not that it wasn't good, because I was happy with it, though I was a little weirded out by the vegan mayo on it. All in all a good meal, and we didn't get dessert because we were already so full, and I would still recommend this place to anyone who wants a small-scene lunch or dinner away from the crazy tourism center of Hollywood.
FYI, its not really walking distance from the touristy Hollywood so don't plan to go here and then walk there.. unless you want to walk a lot.
