My mom was excited to see the apartment and the Science Center and go to the game and take me shopping (all the normal mom things), and my brother couldn't wait to go home. But, they did decided to take all my friends and I out to a vegan dinner while they were here! I did some research and figured enough of my friends hadn't tried Ethiopian yet so that'd be a good bet. Did you know we have a "Little Ethiopia"? Well, we do. It's not a huge district so I was choosing between Rahel Ethiopian Vegan and another one just a few shops down, Meals by Genet (not totally vegan). After reading a couple reviews I figured Rahel would be better (and why not make all my friends eat vegan when I have the excuse to).
And Rahel's didn't disappoint! It was 10 of us and they definitely had the space and service to accommodate us. (Fun fact, they have lunch buffets!) They have a pretty cool menu but we went with getting 3 Combo platters for the table, and it was sooooo good.
I think we got the Veggie paradise combo special, the Hudade special combo, and the Vegan feast combo. LOVED IT. It was 100% delicious and my friends all put up with it! (ha..) Not terribly priced, it was the perfect dinner place for all of us to go and enjoy conversation and great food. I think anyone who hasn't had Ethiopian should start at Azla right next to USC but when you're ready to step it up, Rahel will be waiting.
Located at 1047 S. Fairfax Ave., Rahel is open for lunch buffet 11am - 3pm and dinner from 3pm - 11pm daily.
You can find location on the "Map of Restaurants" tab!
