Ah, yet another recipe that I didn't come up with. Here you go: recipe.
First things first: if you don't already have a Magic Bullet ----------- GET ONE. Its basically a life-saver. Everything calls for a food processor, and yeah, sure, that's great if I'm cooking at home and we have all the tools we want, but since when does a poor college student own a food processor. You're right, almost never. So my little guy, the MB, works as a perfect substitute!
Alright, important question. Which kind of pasta will you use???? Me: uh, well I have rotini in my pantry.. so... ? Correct, sounds delicious. Check out this sweet strainer my mom sent me - it' hooks on to the sink omg. Yeah everyone in Troy should get one, so convenient. Also, mmm pasta.
As the pasta was cooking, I threw together the pesto. This is a recipe my boyfriend and I made (and by that I mean he mostly made it, I was the comedic relief aka useless one) on his last trip out here for spring break! Every time he comes I get a little more excited about cooking, and the fact that I'd just recently bought a basil plant meant it was pesto time, duh. BB (Baby Basil), served us well. She had just the right number of leaves so I could take a packed 1/2 cup and not kill her. She's growing back nicely too!
Alas, I'll quit rambling so much. And here are some more pictures of my version of the pesto.
Congratulations, you know know what a MB looks like. Awesome right? Now, I must admit, mixing green basil with red tomatoes doesn't make the prettiest of colors... but believe me that it tastes good? Or don't? .. but make it anyway. Because it IS DELICIOUS. If it makes you feel better, her's looks the same as mine, I'm not just weird.. haha...
